LAKEVIEW AREA, Los Angeles County — A final California 2026 Integrated Water Quality Report contains pollutant-specific findings for Palmdale Lake, the reservoir adjoining the Lakeview community.
The Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board’s factsheet lists PCBs and dieldrin among waterbody-pollutant combinations added to the Clean Water Act impaired-waters list. The assessment also includes a separate mercury determination for which the state declined to list this specific pollutant. These decisions are not a blanket declaration that the reservoir is clean or that every fish is safe to eat.
Fish safety is a separate question
California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment maintains species- and age-specific fish consumption guidelines for the lake, originally issued in 2020. These recommendations account for contaminants in fish tissue; they should not be used to infer the quality of tap water supplied to Lakeview homes.
Fishing at Palmdale Lake is restricted to authorized club members. Residents should verify current facility access and advisory updates before visiting.
